July 18 – Perfect Code Film Feature #18
Today’s highlighted film is I’ll Be Seeing You from 1944. This is the story of a soldier who meets a lady on a train and ends up spending his holiday leave with her family. They find themselves falling for each other, but each has a secret: he is plagued by flashbacks and battle fatigue, and she is only half-way through a sentence for manslaughter. This film stars Ginger Rogers, Joseph Cotten, and Shirley Temple. It was directed by William Dieterle, produced by Dore Schary, and released by Selznick International Pictures through United Artists. This is a perfect Code film because it teaches that one shouldn’t judge others without knowing their whole stories, and it inspires us to help our neighbors during their darkest hours. I like this movie because of its warm script and the tender interaction between its actors. My favorite thing about it is its beautiful message that, when one finds love, it is worthwhile to fight for it, believe in it, and wait for it.
