The Versatile Blogger Award!

The Versatile Blogger Award

On November 8, Sally Silverscreen of 18 Cinema Lane nominated us for the Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you, Sally! We are honored to be nominated for our second blogging award. First, let’s review the rules of this award.

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Include a link to that person’s blog in your post
  3. Share 7 facts about yourself
  4. Nominate 15 bloggers of your choosing

We are very grateful that Sally, one of our newer film-loving friends, has acknowledged us in this way. It was very kind of her. Be sure to visit her website and read some of her excellent articles!

We are happy to complete rule 3 of this award! Scroll down to read seven random facts about my sister, Rebekah, and me.

  1. We both graduated from high school at age thirteen after being homeschooled exclusively by our mother.
  2. We never leave the house without wearing a vintage-style outfit, complete with some sort of hat or fascinator!
  3. We both have been studying classical opera singing from a college professor for nine and a half years.
  4. I sing in twenty-one languages, and Rebekah sings in ten.
  5. The only new film releases we have ever seen in a movie theater are the six Disney Tinkerbell movies, which we saw at Disney’s vintage theater in Hollywood, El Capitan.
  6. I am right-handed, but after practicing left-handed writing almost every day for a few months, I can write cursive legibly and quite neatly with my left hand.
  7. Rebekah and I made our debut as the L. A. Soprani Sisters on July 15 at the Hollywood and Western Building, the downtown Los Angeles building which was the first home of the Studio Relations Committee, Central Casting, and the Production Code Administration!

Finally, it is time to nominate fifteen other bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award! This is not a difficult task, since I have many friends and fellow bloggers whom I am happy to honor. In addition to tagging them for this award, I would like to extend a special invitation to these fifteen nominees. I would like to invite each of them to write a guest article in the new series we are launching in 2019, “What the Code Means to Me.” I will include more information about this series below. What the Code Means to Me (1)

“What the Code Means to Me” is a series which I want to launch in 2019. Beginning in January, I hope to feature one article in this series each month. These articles will be written by other bloggers who are interested in classic films. These articles will be published on the authors’ websites and will including a link to our website and the above banner; I will republish them on our website. These articles may be written by any writer who is interested in participating; they may be published any time during the designated month.

To be an author of an article in this series, you do not have to be in complete agreement with the Code, nor do you have to support it. The purpose of this series is to explore other people’s opinions about and experiences with Code films. However, we do ask that writers focus on positive experiences and ideas, since the purpose of our website is to promote the Code. Nonetheless, we want to have your honest opinions. Perhaps you enjoy the wholesome Disney cartoons made during the Breen Era. Maybe you like the fact that profanity wasn’t allowed. Perhaps you find it refreshing that mature topics were handled without indecency. Maybe you are a religious person who appreciates the Code’s rule against ridicule of religion. You might be a parent who enjoys the fact that Breen Era movies can be enjoyed by the whole family. During my two years in the classic film blogging community, I have met a lot of other writers who love the Golden Era of Hollywood as much as I do. Even if they don’t support or agree with the Code, many of these people have expressed appreciation for some of the Code’s rules. This is the chance for such people to write about this appreciation!

I first invite my fifteen nominees for the Versatile Blogger Award, as well as my nominator, Sally of 18 Cinema Lane, to participate in this series. If any of you are interested in writing articles in this series, please leave a comment and say so! I will be thrilled to feature your article in any month in 2019 which is convenient for you! If you are interested but others have signed up for the upcoming months, I can schedule you for future available months. Secondly, I would love to feature articles written by any other writers who read this article. Just leave me a comment and tell me your planned topic and preferred month. Thank you so much for joining this series. Please share it to spread the word! We appreciate your support. Thank you again to Sally Silverscreen of 18 Cinema Lane for nominating us for the Versatile Blogger Award!

Follow us to bring back the Code and save the arts in America!

We are lifting our voices in classical song to help the sun rise on a new day of pure entertainment!

Only the Code can make the sun rise on a new day of pure entertainment!

  4. Thank you so much for thinking of me! I’m in the midst of writing five different final papers in addition to other commitments, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post a reply. As for your series, I could tentatively sign up for August, if that works. 🙂

  5. How kind of you to nominate me for the Versatile Blogger Award. I will try to respond with answers to the questions this week, but we shall see. There’s only 12 days of school left in this, my first semester back in a classroom, and it’s jam-packed with grading, report cards, school parties and concerts, etc. I will gladly write an article for your upcoming series in 2019, and why don’t you count on me to write something in the month of April. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas season!!

  8. “What the Code Means to Me”, sounds really interesting and I would love to take part in it. But as I mentioned, in my reply to your invite on my Blog, am going through a lot at the moment, thus find it difficult to commit to anything properly. But tentatively, do sign me up for the month of June, 2019 (my Birth month). 🙂
Thanks again, for the invitation, as well as Versatile Blogger Award nomination. I shall try and work on the Blog-Award, within December 2018, itself.

  9. Hi Tiffany
Thank you for the nomination! You are correct that “my life” has prevented me from writing more posts. Hopefully, after the holidays, things will get back to normal.
I would like to write an article for your new web site for the month of July, if it hasn’t been assigned already and you approve😊
Again thank you and Happy Holidays.

    • I was just about to send you a comment telling you about the nomination. Thank you for beating me to it! You’re welcome. I think you deserve it. It’s fine if you don’t post a reply article. You still get the award. I am so happy that you want to join the series! You are officially scheduled for May! I look forward to reading your article in spring. It was very generous of you to join.

      Yours Hopefully,

      Tiffany Brannan
